Ava's 7th Birthday

Ava is always really excited about her birthday and since it is in August, sometimes her mother doesn't come through with a great event (for instance last year I convinced her to go to Pat's with all her cousins and everyone got a big jaw breaker, they thought it was awesome, but not much of a birthday). So this year I tried to make a big deal.  We had birthday waffles for breakfast, we went swimming in Pincher creek and then came home and had a butterfly birthday party.  It was great whole day activity, everyone one made a fuss, so she felt really special.

Ava and her birthday waffle, it isn't very often that we make waffles in Waterton.(to many people)
Granny always has a few supplies, the kids loved making these butterflies.
Aunt Tina helped Caroline make the butterfly cake, the batter was multiple colors.

She got just what she wanted, a necklace a bracelet from the pharmacy that she had her eye on.
Ava is a joy to have in our family.  She is now in grade two and loves school.  She is very eager to learn and currently thinks that her teacher, Mrs. Ross, is the best thing in the whole world.  She loves to go to school. She has really become and good reader and has discovered lots of Caroline's old books to read.  Whenever she brings a book order home she studies it  for a long time, counts out her money and orders whichever book has the coolest necklace with it.  Usually this is all done in secret.  She loves to sing and is constantly singing songs around the house (sometimes this bugs her older siblings ) she has a great voice. She also loves to make up songs on the piano and currently has a favorite that she plays for her piano teacher every week.  She loves to organize her little sisters and often has them playing school with her.  She is great at counting down days to special events.  Right now it is Christmas and I did not organize a chain, so she made her own and opens one each day, then she tells me what it says we should do that day.  Ava is a picky eater, she will pick all the beans out of her chili, or all the onions out of something. She doesn't make a huge fuss she is like her Dad, she just eats what she really likes, sometimes her entire lunch comes home from school.  She is constantly heating things in the microwave to make her food hot, she does not like cold food.  She loves fresh buns, she has a method of eating them with honey and butter that involves heating them in the microwave. Ava is in a gymnastic class and loves going every week, she walks by herself to it from school. Ava is a great organizer, she loves making lists. We were having fights over who gets the chicken legs, so she made a chart to put on the fridge.  The other day she made signs for everyones room, telling them ho much she loved them,  I often find little notes to me or Mrs. Ross. We love having Ava in our family.
