Branding 2012

This year we had almost seventy calves to brand, so it really felt like a real branding day.  It was a great success.  The weather was great, it rained at the end and the kids were happy.

Granny's dutch oven and stew were a hit.  She is one of a kind.
Caroline got in on the action
Reuben informed me that this was the second best day of the year, after Christmas.  Ryan is like a giddy boy, he thinks it is the best thing ever.

Anna isn't afraid to get in on the action. All the girls love her and follow her around all day, poor Anna.
The two queens watch from their thrones.  Margartet threw-up in the car right before we got there.
Ava, Isabel Steed, Katharine and Addy Pollock.
Uncle Robert brought his horse and a friend to entertain the kids.

After everything was over, we look over and what do we see.  The boys are re-enacting branding but this time on themselves.  It was the best part of the day.  Here they are trying to lasso each other and then they pin the 'calf' down and fake brand it.

It would have made Grandpa Orzie happy, looking after and calving seventy cows it is worth the one day of branding, thank-you Grandpa Steed.
